Tree Advocacy

If the Trees Had Eyes and Ears… Would They See Us Caring for Them?

Reporting tree condition and concerns to the city allows for expedited corrective action to be conducted. Unfortunately, the city is currently undergoing a period of under funding, which results in a lack of tree care due to the simple, yet effective problem in our city.. a lack of proper tree education, maintenance, management, and reporting.

How YOU Can Influence Tree Management

Report an Immediate Problem:

Report Non-Urgent Issues:

Familiarize yourself with the law:

  • Tree Topping is ILLEGAL
    • Topping is a term referring to when the main branches of a tree are trimmed to a stub, destroying the tree’s natural shape, making it more susceptible to disease and premature death while also causing weak, yet fast growing branches to sprout… ironically requiring more pruning in the long run
  • Tree Vandalism is ILLEGAL
    • Destruction, damage, or injury to tree on public or private land
    • Example: Engraving initials into tree bark, improper hanging of items such as hammocks, etc.
